GREEN: In a brief meeting this week, the Board of Education accepted the resignations of three cheerleading coaches and hired a former cheerleader at The Ohio State University to coach the varsity squad for the winter season.

The board accepted the resignations of head varsity coach Sarah Appleby and assistant coach Elise Gregory as well as that of freshman cheerleading coach Katelyn Boldt.

At the same time, the board hired Renee Hauler as varsity coach for the basketball season after the position had been posted and the University of Akron grad student applied.

Green Athletic Director Bruce Johnson said Hauler is a guidance counselor intern at both Green Intermediate School and the high school.

Johnson said Friday that Appleby tendered her resignation, effective the end of the fall sports season, because she wanted to move on to other endeavors and didn’t have the time to handle cheerleading as well.
