GREEN: The city’s highway division is seeking eight additional laborers for the winter season.
Candidates need Class B commercial driver’s licenses and will be paid $12 to $15 an hour.
Those interested should contact the Green Service Department right away. Interviews already have begun, human resources manager Jeanne Greco said.
Service Director Randy Monteith said workers would be on the payroll until early to mid-April, depending on the weather.
To make the hirings possible, City Council approved the hourly pay rate at Tuesday night’s council meeting.

Also Tuesday, the council approved up to $30,000 to hire a contractor to replace the roof at the Hartong farm house and summer kitchen at Southgate Park.
The roof is tarped, but the administration would like to get the permanent roof installed before inclement weather to prevent damage to the building’s interior.
Finance Committee Chairman “Skip” Summerville said the city expects about $21,000 for the project to come from a grant.
Funding also is being sought through the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District for an educational wetland to be constructed in front of Green Middle and Green Intermediate schools on Steese Road.
The conservancy district administers financial assistance for conservation purposes through the Partners in Watershed Management Project Assistance Program.
Council also confirmed approval of the site plan for the $28 million Acme Fresh Market to be built along Massillon Road at Graybill Road.
Monteith reported that the city received a check for $26,836 following an auction of equipment earlier this month.
