GREEN: The Board of Education has given approval for classes next school year to begin four days later than this year, while making the holiday break a full 16 days, including weekends.
The action came near the end of Monday night’s board meeting, with the promise that the 2014-15 calendar will be unveiled no later than this April.
Superintendent Michael Nutter said the board’s goal is to keep residents informed well in advance so planning for family vacations and outings can begin now for the next two school years.
Classes for students in the next school year will begin Aug. 26 and will end – except for seniors – on June 5, 2014. Graduation will be held June 3.
The holiday break will begin Dec. 21, and students won’t return to classes until Jan. 6.
The Thanksgiving break will run from Nov. 28 through Dec. 2, while the spring break will be nine days, March 22 through 30.
