Cleveland Pops conductor, Carl Topilow, returns to lead the Akron Symphony Orchestra at Holiday Pops, a beloved Akron tradition the whole family will enjoy. The Akron Symphony Chorus, led by Maria Sensi Sellner, will accompany the Akron Symphony Orchestra in three Holiday Pops performances at the Akron Civic Theater, Medina Performing Arts Center and The Chapel in Green. Holiday Pops will feature a special appearance by Santa and a holly-jolly sing-along. Complimentary candy canes and an instrument petting zoo will also be available for children during Holiday Pops at Akron Civic Theater.
“We are pleased to be able to present Holiday Pops in neighboring communities once again,” said Joanne Green, Director of Marketing and PR for the Akron Symphony. “We are encouraged by the enthusiastic response and look forward to exposing new audiences to our wonderful Akron Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.”
Holiday Pops takes place on December 12, 13 and 14. The Akron Symphony kicks off Holiday Pops with a concert at The Chapel at Green on Wednesday, December 12 at 7:30 pm. The tradition continues with Holiday Pops at the historic Akron Civic Theater on Thursday, December 13 at 7:30 pm. It concludes with Medina Holiday Pops at the Medina Performing Arts Center on Friday, December 14 at 8 pm.
Cleveland Pops Conductor, Carl Topilow, is no stranger to the Akron Symphony Orchestra. Carl has become part of the Akron Symphony’s holiday tradition with his engaging personality, wit and an inclusive programming approach that brings people of all ages and traditions together and gets them in the holiday spirit. Following his long time dream of conducting his own pops orchestra, Carl founded the Cleveland Pops, which is currently in its 16th season. He is renowned worldwide for his versatility, whether he is holding a conductor’s baton or his trademark red clarinet. He is multi-talented and equally comfortable as both a conductor and instrumentalist.
“Regardless of the performance you attend, you are certain to experience the rich Akron Symphony experience and leave filled with holiday spirit,” said Green.
